MADRID, September 11, 2025 (WHERE & WHAT TO EAT) — Coffee company Starbucks has opened its first flagship store in Spain inside the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid. Operated by Alsea, the new location spans more than 900 square meters across two floors and features digital installations, a Reserve Bar, and spaces designed for both retail and coffee tasting.
“This new flagship location at Bernabéu is not just a coffeehouse, it’s a global destination. It’s a tribute to our roots, a reflection of Madrid’s creative energy, and a symbol of the community connections we aim to build,” said Brady Brewer, chief executive officer of Starbucks International.
The flagship features a curated ground-floor marketplace with a concierge barista station and custom fixtures, while the upper floor offers the Reserve Bar, lounge areas, and tasting rooms overlooking the stadium field. A mixology bar led by black-aproned Coffee Masters will serve coffee-based cocktails and host tasting sessions.
Local artistry is also central to the space. Madrid-based artist Cristina Mejías created a suspended sculpture of the Starbucks Siren for the atrium, while a mosaic mural spells out “Madrid.”
More than 65 new employees have joined Starbucks Iberia to staff the location, adding to the company’s workforce of over 2,800 in the region. Since entering Spain more than 20 years ago, Starbucks has expanded to 222 stores across 48 cities.
“This flagship is unlike anything else in Spain. It is a destination that combines exclusive products, innovative design, and the unmistakable Starbucks Experience. We are proud to welcome customers into a space that reflects both our global brand and the unique spirit of Madrid,” said Antonio Romero, general manager of Starbucks Iberia.
The opening of the Bernabéu store is part of the stadium’s redevelopment project, which includes new retail and hospitality facilities in addition to its football operations.
