SAN ANTONIO, July 17, 2025 (WHERE & WHAT TO EAT) — Restaurant company Taco Cabana has announced a statewide contest inviting Texas residents to create the brand’s next margarita flavor in celebration of National Tequila Day on July 24.
As part of the campaign, Taco Cabana will offer $1.50 margaritas at all locations across Texas. The drinks will be made with Casa Alta, a 100% blue agave, additive-free tequila.
The online contest is open to Texas residents aged 21 and older and runs from July 24 to August 10. Weekly prizes include Taco Cabana gift cards and free food for a year. Three grand prize winners and a guest will be awarded a trip to the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, which includes a private tour of agave fields, behind-the-scenes distillery access, exclusive tastings, and sessions with local tequila experts.
“Tequila is part of Taco Cabana’s soul. It’s embedded in our culture, our cocktails, and our guest experience. Our competition to help create the next amazing Taco Cabana margarita flavor is much more than a contest. It gives everyone who enters an invitation to be part of our brand story, and it promises an opportunity to experience and celebrate everything our margaritas represent,” said Ulyses Camacho, President and COO of Taco Cabana.
To enter, participants must visit www.tacocabana.com/margarita-contest-2025 and submit a margarita recipe with up to eight ingredients. Entries can also include photos or videos. Submissions will be evaluated by Taco Cabana’s beverage team, with winners notified on August 18 and announced publicly on August 25.
“National Tequila Day isn’t an ordinary observance for Taco Cabana; it’s a celebration of a key ingredient in our brand story, which is why we’ve giving customers the opportunity to engage more deeply with us in several guest-friendly ways,” said Camacho.
The contest is supported by Taco Cabana’s brand partner, Performance Food Group.
